MP3 format

The mp3 files on this server are intended to be downloaded, then played from a computer's hard drive or mp3 player.  While streaming works fine for fast/reliable connections; it is often better to download, then play the files.  This is true of the Real Audio files as well; however, I have set them up to stream as that is what the most computer users expects of that format of audio files on the Internet.  Please consider downloading the mp3s as you will get better results and the files will always be available on your hard drive.  The size of the mp3s is relatively small per file. If a series has been completed, you can request all the mp3s from the series on a CD-R should you prefer not to download them. Since the files are located on a server with a cable modem connection, you should be able to download the files quite rapidly on a similar connection. If you do not have a fast/reliable internet connection, you have two options. Contact Pastor Griffith and request a cd with the files you need or use a download manager such as Getright (the best, IMHO), Download Accelorator, Real Download....

There is one (1) mp3 file format on the server a Constant Bit Rate of 32kbps. The Constant Bit Rate of 32 is for dial-up users who wish to stream rather than download, for those who use mp3 devices that don't support a VBR, or for flash based mp3 players that have limited storage capacity. The cbr=32 is the standard for mp3 audiobooks, so it is the standard we have adopted. If you would like to learn more about the mp3 format, check out Yahoo! MP3 information or any of the other excellent web pages that describe the format. Personally, I use the 6 GB Nomad Jukebox, the Emerson Personal CD/MP3 Player w/ 45 Second Anti-Skip, and various PCs running WinAMP to play the mp3s.
