Lesson 5
Ø Rebellion
in Eden Gen. 3.
First
look at 2:15-17 where we find the conditions and the command of God to Adam.
Why
is choice or volition important?
** What is stronger, which glorifies God? Response freely given?? or response that is coerced??
Ø We have here 4 things in God's order.
1. A Statement of
God's law - commandment!
2. A statement of
God's penalty.
3. You have God's
courtroom.
4. Last you have
God's sentence.
Ø Ten
Basic Considerations
Things
or areas that in regards to volition we need to keep in our minds; need to
understand.
1. The believer needs to have a proper view of the sovereignty
of God and the will of man.
What
is a definition of Sovereignty?
Meaning: Sovereignty means highest, chief, supreme.
That God is sovereign means that He is the absolute and sole ruler who is
independent of all others in His rule.
We can see this
Sovereignty expressed in Scripture by means of certain titles given to God.
a. Heb. 6:13 - ouvdeno.j
mei,zonoj\ -
no one greater [confirmation of the
Abe. Covenant]
b. 1 Chr. 29:11-12 - head over all (rule over all)
c. Dan. 4:2-3 - Most High God (one of His names)
d. Ps 24:10 - King of glory
e. 1 Tim 6:15 King of Kings - the one supreme king
Even
though God is sovereign and awesome; He
is also very personal.
Even
though God is sovereign and awesome; He
is also very personal.
How
do we show this? That God as awesome as
He is; yet is also very personal.
The
Bible does not recognize tension between sovereignty and volition.
