Lesson 2

3. Satan has a will!

He was the first to deviate from God's expressed will.

How or what is the means of influence by Satan??  How can he get to you??

In the garden God put a tree (TKGOKE) and to Adam God said, "Do not eat!"

Ø      What does this give Adam the opportunity to do??  (2 things)

1.  The opportunity to affirm the will of God!

2.  The opportunity to challenge it and say, "I deny the will of  God."

Ø      Why did God Put the Tree there??  Why the Command??

  1.   God desires volitional obedience!

2.   He desires to influence man's will to the point that he will  say, "I see your will, and I recognize that it is the best course for me, and I submit to it."

3.   Every time Adam walked by that tree, and did not eat, he was  saying,  God you know best.

4.   One day when he went by the tree, Ishah was standing there and said to him, Hey Adam eat, its really great!

Ø      With man we have a "will" explosion.

There is a problem:  Too many believers today are tied down by a  horrible concept, the viewpoint that they're victims;  we just can't help it!

When we begin to accept responsibility for our actions, in  everything that we do, then we have begun the process of maturity.

Point of observation:  God is an objective God!

With the creation of man God is saying, I will grant time, human  history and in the course of human history, as it is played out, it is going to prove something very important.

Is my will best or is it not??

Ø      As we look at the will of man, our ability to choose, we have in the process of making decisions 3 options:

1.  Option to respond to God's will.

2.  Option to respond to Satan's will.

3.  Option to respond to our own sin nature.

Ø      Lets look at some Documentation for these statements!!

1. May a Believer Respond to the will of Satan?  Eph. 4:27

2. Does God have a will relative to Us??  You bet He does!

3. What about our old nature,  OSN; something we all have as a  consequence of the fall?

Ø      Something to think about!

The measure of maturity is the measure to which we respond  positively to the will of God.
