Review:
21:3 The presence of God is in this city!
The most important aspect of this city is what we
find in vs:3
* Believers will be able
to enjoy a new level of intimacy with God, which was impossible in a world
where sin and death were a present reality.
21:4 There will be "no more"
1. In the eternal state there will be an end of
several things; vs:4
No more tears!
- The verb here, "wipe
away" evxalei,fw
The word means to totally eliminate all tears;
they're gone, eliminated for all time.
Applications
/ observations:
1.
Shouldn't this teach us to approach or look at tears differently?
2. This ought to add new
truth to our hope!
3. It should teach us something else; just how personal God is; how
intimate our relationship with Him really can be.
4. It should eliminate a
get even mentality!
5. This truth should make
us more eternity minded (focused on the provision) which will make us better
able to handle the pressures of life.
21:4 Continued:
What God is doing here is making it clear to us
that all of the effects of the curse of the fall, have been removed; all things
are made new; The sin nature is history!
b. The second thing that will be no more is
death!
c. "there shall no longer be any mourning
or crying"
d. The last phrase makes this fact very clear.
"the first things
have passed away."
21:5-6 The Creator; His work (vs:5) and His Word
(vs:6)
a. The one sitting on the
throne; God the Father, the author of the Plan of the ages; the executor of the
plan is the Son;
b. Vs:6a His Word!
"It is done," gi,nomai (perfect act
c. The Saint's have one
need, and that is a "thirst."
21:6b

drinking of the spring of life.
The aspect of salvation in view is the abundant
character of eternal life and the blessings that flow from it for eternity.
22:7-8 Those that will be there and those who will
not be there!
