16 The Bowls of Wrath
Review:
- Har-Magedon is a transliteration from the Hebrew;

1. The Announcement vs:17 read
This bowl is poured out; "upon the air"; with no further amplification!
- With this last series
of judgments God is bringing Satan's empire, his rule to an end.
** As important as this
is; the judgment of the invisible powers behind the rebellion of man that is
not the main focus of this verse at all:
God makes an announcement; "It is done" gi,nomai (perf act
These words here,
are not words of hope but words of doom and judgment!
- could construe as hope
to the spiritually awake believer of the day in that as these judgments are
poured out they will know that the end is near and that Christ's return is
imminent.
When we examine the character of man; recognizing
his innate nature; the indwelling sin nature.
We must stand amazed that the "it is
finished of the cross" preceded the "it is done" of
this judgment!
- Human history is the
record of God's gracious longsuffering extended to sinful rebellious man.
Greatest example of this rebellion is found in religion down through
the ages; man's attempt to define and
establish a relationship with God on man's terms not God's.
2. Judgment described vs:18-21
(2 phases)
As we begin looking at the judgment we need to look
ahead to put things in perspective; specifically with ch 17-18; where they fit!
16:17-21 give only a very general description of
the judgment associated with this 7th bowl.
Ch 17-18 gives us much more detail!
** Throughout these
judgments we have seen many things detailed that are going to happen as sure as
your sitting there today!
Things that are clearly supernatural in nature that
speak to the fact that God is in control, the source of these judgments.
What is here in context is all future! But we do
have historical precedence for this! Not
the first time natural law has been suspended!
The occurrences within the tribulation reflect the
power of God and His control of nature to an extent not seen since the flood.
