Lesson 40

                                Revelation Chapter Fourteen

                       Snapshots of the Victory of Christ

Introduction:

- Still part of the parenthesis that we started with ch-12.

- It will bring what we've been studying in ch 12-13 to a conclusion.

- Sequence:

Ch-12  The focus is on the place of Israel in the Trib;

- This without a doubt has to be one of the darkest times in all of human history for the believer.

- As we come to ch-14 we are given some snapshots detailing the ultimate victory of Jesus Christ.

Outline:

#1. Proclamation 14:1-7

1. Proclamation of the Final victory of Christ! 14:1-5

2. Proclamation of the Eternal Gospel. 14:6-7

#2. Pronouncement 14:8-13

1. Pronouncement of Divine Judgment 14:8-12

Its on 2 groups; #1 on Babylon

#2 On those who are worshipers of the Beast; receive the mark!

These are the ones who choose present advantages w/o regard to the eternal ramifications; They are the now people;

Evaluated the edict worship or die; take the mark or don't buy or work and they opted for the now advantage!

2. Pronouncement of blessing  14:13  for the NOT NOW people!

  #3. Preview  14:14-20

      - Preview of the coming Armageddon campaign;

        Final rebellion of man against God.

        Its at that time that Christ returns!

We need to understand that the whole chapter is proleptic!

The events being covered are spoken of in the past tense as if they have  already occurred even though they are still future!

Example:  Isa 53:6

The Time line for ch 14!

14:14-20  Armageddon campaign at the end of the Great Trib.

14:1-5 1st Proclamation; The Victory of Jesus Christ!

1. Set the Scene   14:1

Who is the Lamb?

Need to identify what is and where is Mt Zion!

Mt Zion here is a geographical location; lets document that!

1. Its geographical  1 Chr 11:4-5  Zion is a city of David; a geographical location.

2. Its the place where God/F will install and establish His Messiah's reign.     Ps 2:6  It is the place of the Messiah's rule;

3. It is Gods chosen real estate; Ps 48:1-2

4. It is his special dwelling place. Ps 132:13

5. 2 passages that speak to the time of our passage;  Isa 1:24-27; 2:2-4

Some things to think about as we work through the chapter!

How the Glory of God is displayed in the culmination of History where man rules/dominates!

1. Why is ch-13 not the final chapter?

2. Why in ch-14 is the Eternal Gospel still being proclaimed?

3. Why does the rebellion of man and the rebellion of Satan which takes control of the whole world  yet fail to defeat God?

4. Why does God send the beast and the false prophet into eternal judgment?

5. Why are some saved out of this period?

** When we go through scripture we may not have all the details in one passage and we need to keep on reading and learning to fill in the blanks. Have an example of that right here.

14:2-3 The Song!

#1 An expression of unity in worship;

** The emphasis then is an expression of worship of the Lord!

#2 An expression of understanding.

Question? Who are the singers? Who might be making up this chorus, this voice of unity?

- This song from heaven provides a connection between the victory of the Lamb on the earth and the heavenly throne!

- 2 groups one in heaven, the one in heaven sings the praises of God; the one on earth who understands and appreciates the praise contained in this new song!
