Revelation Chapter 10 Lesson
28
Review:
vs:7 tells us just when this delay is over!
- The
announcement being made here is that God's longsuffering, His great patience is
over!
>
The Emphasis here is on the consummation; no more delay; when the action
actually picks up again, there will be swift completion to the end.
>
Wrath, return and reign! Overall pattern.
At this point we need to note
an added aspect of the wrath;
It's
presented or unveiled in 2 cycles; or two overviews
#1 Rev 4-11 takes us through
the first cycle.
#2 Rev
12-19 takes us through the wrath the second time; does so with emphasis on
different events and peoples.
The Emphasis of 10:7 is on the
consummation, God bringing everything to its intended goal, objective.
>
What about this Mystery of God that he says is finished.
This mystery brings into view previously unrevealed details of God's
plans for humanity that He was about to make known. Specifically it refers to what will take
place so the kingdom of the world becomes the
Ultimately, the bottom line here of this prediction
is that the full manifestation of the divine power, majesty, the holiness of
God will be evident in the glorious return of Christ, the establishment of His
Millennial reign, and the creation of the eternal state which will follow it.
4.
John's commands and commission; vs:8-11
- Focus is the little book and its message;
- Part of that msg,
sweet and pleasant?
- That
is, the coming of a king, the Messiah who will rule with +R and Justice, a time
of great peace and prosperity.
- The word of God to the
positive believer is always sweet as honey; Ps 119:103; 19:9-10
- Part
of that msg is also going to be bitter; hard to take;
- that
part is related to the outpouring of the wrath of God; especially related to
the closing phases; also given to the
prophets but expanded in revelation.
Summary:
1. John
recognizes the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and His appointed agents, the
angels who carried out the judgment.
2. His
obedience points out his submission as a servant, which is going to permit him
to receive the information in the little book.
3. The
contents of the little book are pleasant concerning the knowledge that is found
in it, but the fulfillment is unpleasant.
4. We
must realize that God has a reason for everything, even the unpleasant events.
5. The
Great Believers of history carry out the Lord's instructions even though they
may be temporarily unpleasant.
6. Are
we willing to do the same??
Vs:11 Have the commission to John to prophecy again;
"You must prophesy again concerning many
peoples and nations and tongues and kings."
SUMMARY:
1. Communicators (as John was) are called to
communicate God's Word knowing that some will not like it.
2. John was tested and thereby prepared for
the information that will follow in this Book.
3. The upcoming prophecies will touch every
ethnic, political, social and authority structure known to man.
4. Thus the information in this revelation is
something every believer should know.
