Lesson 9 August 15

Review:

There are 3 dispersions or dispossessions of Israel in their history.

#1  Joseph in Egypt circa. 1850 BC invited his family to come to Egypt because of the great famine in the Land. (be there 400 years)

RETURN = After the Exodus and the 40 years in the Sinai; 1400 BC.

#2  Came in 2 phases NK 722 BC. by the Assyrians SK 586 BC. by the Babylonians

RETURN =  Marked by the Decree of Cyrus, started the process;

- Later the decree of Artexerxes Longimanus 445 set in motion what was needed for the restoration process.

- this was tied in Neh 1:8-9 to the original promise of the land!

#3  70 AD with the destruction of the city and the Temple; Diaspora.

- This was anticipated by Jesus in Mt 24:2

- The destruction of Jerusalem prophesied in Lk. 21:20-24.

Where is the return from this dispersion??

- The Prophet Amos reminds us in 9:13-15 that the land is given to Israel forever and that after this return will never be dispossessed again.

- This third and final return is prophesied many places.

Jer 16:14-16; 30:8-11; 32:37-44

Ezk 20:33-38; 36:22-28; dry bones vision of ch:37.

- Also by the Minor Prophets Hos 3:4-5;  Joel 3:20-21

Conclusions we should be able to draw from Scripture!

1.  Obvious that Israel has not possessed the land permanently.

- dispersed a 3rd time after 2 regatherings.

2.  Based on the Word of God thru the Prophets, Israel will be regathered from this 3rd dispersion and will be in her land during the Millennium.

3. There is no way that these promises can be fulfilled by the Church or by Gentiles.

4. These promises must be fulfilled by the physical seed of Jacob, in keeping with Abrahamic covenant.  {seed within the seed}

5.  If all of these things are true than only the Pre-millennial view of the prophetic time line accurately describes what is prophesied.
