Lesson 4
April 21, 2002
4. Proven by Being Equally Associated
This is seen in passages
where the Old Testament records that Yahweh said something and the New
Testament quotation of that same
passage is attributed to the Spirit as the Speaker.
- Act 28:25 from Is.
6:1-13; Jer. 31:31-34 and Heb. 10:15-17
Along these same lines, we
find another line of evidence in the New Testament where the Holy Spirit is
associated equally with the Father and the Son.
- Matthew 28:19
- 2 Corinthians 13:14
- 1 Corinthians 12: 4-6
- 1 Peter 1:2
3.
The Advent and Age of the Unique Ministry of the Spirit
Introduction:
The Promise of the Spirit as
God's Special Provision
Promise of the Holy Spirit in
the Old Testament:
- Ezekiel 36:27; 37:14; Jer.
31:33; Joel 2:28-29
Promise of the ministry of
the Holy Spirit in the New Testament:
- John 7:37-39; John
14:16,17; Acts 1:4-8
The Fact of the Spirit's
Coming
No longer is His coming an
anticipation; it is a blessed historical fact:
[overview]
-
Acts 2:1-4, 17; 10:44-45; 11:15-17; 1 Cor. 6:19; Eph. 1:13-14; 4:30;
-
reality of the H/S in the life = Gal.
5:5,16, 22-25.
An Explanation of the Change
in the ministry of the Spirit: Jn

Overview of Pentecost
The Time Element Acts 2
- 1:4-5 ministry of H/S is
still future.
- In what sense was Pentecost
a fulfillment-what did it fulfill?
The Geographical Element
- Jesus' instructions in Luke
24:49 and Acts 1:4 are specific as to locality.
The coming of the Holy Spirit
was accompanied by sight and sound
phenomena. Fire is associated with the presence of God.
This is seen in Exodus 3:2-3,
13:21, 24:17. and 40:38.
