5.  The Ramifications of the Personality of the Spirit

a.  He is related to the Apostles as a distinct and separate person who thought about what was best and related that to the Apostles who were in fellowship with the Spirit.         Acts 15:28

 

b.  He is related to the Lord Jesus as a distinct and separate person.       John 16:14

 

 

c.  He is related to the other persons of the God head so as to  indicate personality.

 

 

 

d.  He is distinguished even from His own power as a person.

                        Examples:  Acts 10:38; Romans 15:13; 1 Corinthians 2:4.

 

 

 

2.  The Deity of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is God

a.  Proofs for the Deity of the Holy Spirit

The fact that the Holy Spirit is a person does not prove that He is God, but the reverse of that is true.

 

If He is God, then He must be a person as God is.

 

We will examine four Proofs of the deity of the Holy Spirit:

1.  Proven by His Titles Which Identify Him as God

2.  Proven by His Characteristics or Attributes as God

3.  Proven by His Ministries

4.  Proven by Being Equally Associated with Deity

 

1.  Proven by His Titles Which Identify Him as God

 

 

The First Illustration:    Acts 5:1-4.

 

 

The Second Illustration:   1 Corinthians 3:16-17 and 6:19-20

 

 

2.  Proven by His Characteristics or Attributes as God  [absolute]

a.  Omniscience:   1 Corinthians 2:10-11

 

 

b.  Omnipotence:  Luke 1:35;  Rom. 15:19; 

 

 

c.  Omnipresence:   Psalm 139:7-10 

 

 

d.  Eternality:   Hebrews 9:14

 

 

3.  Proven by His Works

a.  Creation:  H/S is involved with creation!   Genesis 1:2;  Job 26:13

 

 

b.  Inspiration of Scripture:   2 Timothy 3:16;  2 Peter 1:21

 

 

c.  Regeneration,  Illumination,  and Sanctification:

Regeneration:    John 3:5-8; Titus 3:5

 

 

Illumination:    Ephesians 3:16-19

 

 

Sanctification:   Rom 15:16; 2 Ths.  2:13
