1:25 The desired objective for each believer - reality of the true Christian life

James gives 4 steps here in the process of realizing this stated blessing.

#1 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty

#2 - and abides by it (NIV and he continues to do this) that is intently looking into the word of truth - the perfect law of freedom

#3 - not having become a forgetful hearer - lit not a hearer marked by forgetfulness

#4 - he puts the truth into practice, but (avlla.) an effectual doer - lit a doer marked by work

Summary Observations:

1. As believers we must accept the Bible as authoritative truth, the perfect, complete product of a perfect God.

2. As such it is to be the source of the thinking, the attitudes and the standards that regulate our lifestyle.

3. The standards expressed are for our happiness - blessing (our well being) in time as well as for eternity.

4. We are freed from slavery to the SIN NATURE and therefore free to obey God's will for us. Gal 5:1; 13

5. If (3^cc) we are to realize the full range of God's blessing we must strive to become active practitioners of work - DGP.
