#3. peace,   eivrh,nh  a state of tranquility; absence of hostility;

 

Summary  

1.   Definition:  Refers to a disposition characterized by inner rest, harmony and freedom from anxiety based on the realization of our position in Christ.

 

2.   The foundation for this peace is first and foremost because of reconciliation with God through faith in Christ.  Rom 5:1

 

3.  This peace is related to the knowledge of God.  2 Pet. 1:2

 

 

4.  Jesus promised this inner peace to the disciples and said it was associated with no fear and resulted from understanding what He taught.  John 14:27;  16:33

 

5.  Prayer plays an important and active roll in realizing this peace.  Phil 4:6-7

 

6.  We are commanded to experience this inner peace.  Col. 3:15

 

7.  This peace can be a reality regardless of the pressures and tests of life.  2 Ths 3:16.

 

8.  This inner peace is stimulated by believing the Word of truth and the more truth you have the greater your capacity for this inner peace.  Rom 15:13; 

 

9.  The distortion, misuse,  of the spiritual gifts will destroy the peace within a local church. 1 Cor 14:33

 

 

#4. patience,   makroqumi,a   this is patience towards people, dealing with others;  especially patient endurance while being wronged; being the object of ill treatment without reacting with anger and revenge.

 

 

Summary

1.  This patience towards others is a part of our fulfilling the command of Eph. 5:1 which says, "become imitators of God." 

-   Rom 2:4 describes how God deals with man.  Also in Rom 9:22;  1 Tim. 1:16

 

2.  God's patience is so that man might be saved. 1 Pet 3:20; 2 Pet 3:9

 

3.  Paul describes this patience as being a part of our worthy walk as believers.  Eph. 4:2

 

4.  It takes His power, His provision  to accomplish this patience.  Col. 1:11

 

5.  We are commanded to exercise patience toward all.  1 Ths. 5:14

 

 

 

6.  Patience or longsuffering characterizes all labor that has love for its motive,                   1 Cor. 13:4a.

 

7.  Paul set the example for the Pastor of patience while under severe persecution and harassment,    2 Tim. 3:10

 

8.   This patience is to characterize the Pastor as he teaches the sheep.  2 Tim. 4:2

 

9.  We are to be patient until the Lord comes. James 5:7-8
