Will you trust Me?”                                      Lesson 19

                               The Challenge of living the FAITH-REST LIFE

 The Life of Resting in Him;  Living the Faith-rest Life;

The incident in view in Heb. 3 is the rebellion at Kadesh Barnea of Numb. 14.  Complete failure of faith in God and His provision for them!

  The Rebellion at Kadesh Barnea (3:7-11).

The people of Israel were characterized as murmerers and complainers - whiners.   Nu. 14:2; 27-36; 16:41; 17:5; Deut. 1:27

After reviewing the historical precedent in verses 7-11, the writer now shows the consequences of unbelief leading to rebellion, to inform his readers of the serious consequences they face if, like their forefathers, they do not walk by faith and claim God's promises concerning a life of peace and rest.

These consequences as seen here are four fold:

1. A departure from God (3:12).

2. A hardening of the heart (3:13-16).

3. An act of rebellion (3:17).

Its a warning to every generation of the C/A to not fail to rest in the provision and promises of God.

Doubt leads to complaining.

Somewhere at the beginning of our troubles, we all face the temptation to think that God has abandoned us, that He doesn't really care about us, that "He has also brought us into the wilderness to die.
