Lesson 3

“Will you trust Me?”

The Challenge of living the FAITH-REST LIFE

Intro:

The Scripture emphatically declares:

"For the righteous man shall live by faith"    Hab 2:4

-  Rom. 1:17

-  Gal. 3:11

-  Heb 10:38

It is crucial that we not underestimate the importance of faith in our life as believers, so much so that it is almost impossible to over emphasize its importance.

Faith brings the power of God into the life of the believer.

The Christian life from start to finish is of necessity a life of faith, a life of dependence on God and His grace provision for us in Christ.

Galatians 3:1-5

Faith in the power, plan and provision of God is absolutely necessary if we’re to attain the goals/objectives that God desires for us in life.

Must recognize that because of the presence of the sin nature if we choose to put it into rulership we open ourselves up and become susceptible to various external deceptions which will ultimately impact our spiritual life.   [believer]

     1. Romans 6:19

     2. Romans 8:3-4

     3. Matthew 26:41

The nature of the world, kosmoj,  as in darkness, blind, and deceptive:

     1. John 12:46

     2. John 14:17

     3. 1 Corinthians 1:20

     4. Ephesians 2:2; 4:17-20

Four serious problems that work against faith and the transformation that comes with spiritual growth.

1. We must guard against a attitude of legalism.

Def: Legalism is a disposition in which man seeks to establish his own righteousness before God. [salvation or in life as a believer]

The Apostle Paul strongly warns against legalism in any form in Rom. 10:1-4; Gal. 3:1-5 and 5:1-5.
