8. The fruit of the New Life: [what the Word says we should expect in the life of one in which the new nature dominates.]

a. The experiential practice of righteousness. 1 Jn 2:29

[living within the parameters of the will of God]

b. Sinning is not to be the dominant pattern of one with the new life.

In fact the new life or new nature it self does not sin! 1 Jn 3:9; 5:18

c. They exhibit love of God and other believers.

- of others 1 Jn 4:7

 

#2. Raised us up with Christ! 2:6

 

With this verse Paul now turns to our position in Christ; our union with Christ.

** L.S. Chafer: "To be in Christ, which is the portion of all who are saved, is to partake of all that Christ has done, all that He is, and all that He will ever be. It is to have died in His death, to have been buried in His burial, to have been raised in His resurrection, to have ascended in His ascension, and to be seated now with Him in glory. Such is the believer's present position in Christ Jesus."

Conclusion:

God is the one who is the subject that effects the making alive, that raised us and now has seated us in the heavenlies. No human effort any where in any of these actions.
