Daniel Study Notes Lesson  # 35

Concluding Observations  Chapter 9:24-27

Final Observations and principles

1.  Prophecy is always set in practical contexts that are designed to influence conduct. (prophecy is important)

Some other examples:

a.  1 Ths 4:13-18

b.   2 Pet 3:4-14

 c.  1 Jn 3:1-3

2.  The final events of history before the Lord's return center in Israel and in Jerusalem.

3.  God in His sovereignty allows sin to run its full and predicted   course.

4.  God is slow to punish sin and rebellion but is quick to forgive sin.

5. Daniel's ultimate appeal to God is for God's honor and glory!

And that is where Daniel closed his prayer and rested his case!!

Daniel Chapter Ten (10)

Begins the vision of the Heavenly Messenger and His Message (chapter 10-12)

Introduction:  Overview!

1.  Unlike what we have seen so far with every chapter being a separate unit;  these 3 chapters form a single unit; one vision.

2.  Notice in 10:1, it says that the time here is the 3rd year of Cyrus; this is 536 BC.

** Age is no deterrent to usefulness as far as God is concerned!

3.  The prophecy of ch 10-11 involves some hard times. vs:1

4.  In 10:14 we see the content of the vision; (thrust of next 3 chapters).

5.  Outline of the section

a.  10:1 - 11:1 gives us the introduction to the revelation explains the background of the vision.

b.  11:2 - 11:34 (400 years from Daniel)  today all fulfilled

c.  11:35 - 12:4 This was future to Daniel and it is still future  today.

d.  12:5-13 Final instructions and questions.

Detail Exposition

10:1 - 11:1 Introduction to the revelation,  explanation of the background of the vision.

1.  The setting 10:1

Look back at Ezra 1 where we see the historical record of what started 2 years before the context of Dan 10.    Ezra 1:1-3

Why didn't Daniel return with the first ones to the Jerusalem?

2 reasons I see;    #1 age a factor; may not have been able physically.

#2  God still had something for him to do in Babylon, wasn't through with him here yet!
