Daniel Lesson 20

2.  Daniel accused and condemned.  6:10-18

a.  See here his faithfulness under pressure.   6:10

The point or emphasis made here is not on his courage but his consistency, his faithfulness.

Daniel allowed nothing to challenge his relationship with  the Lord.

So this event in Daniel's life reveals to us 2 things;

#1  who Daniel is; his character;

#2  But ultimately it reveals who God is; look at 6:26

b.  His condemnation  6:11-15

c.  Execution of the sentence  6:16-18

3.  Daniel delivered and avenged  6:19-24

4.  Darius' decree 6:25-27

In same manner as Neb had done before; it is  addressed  to  the whole empire.  He like Nebuchadnezzar  assumes that the whole world was under his authority.

Content of the decree is given in the form of a hymn, a psalm of praise.

- great contrast between the pagan gods of Persia and the  God of Daniel.

#1  He is "living."

#2  He is "enduring forever."

#3  His kingdom will not be destroyed and His dominion will  be forever.

In 6:27   This stanza of the psalm or hymn,  Darius gives  the documentation for his previous conclusions in 6:26.

5.  Final Summary statement concerning Daniel.  6:28
