3.  There are 3 parallel passages dealing with these kingdoms.

 

4. Vision of Dan 7:1-14 

a.  appearance of 4 beasts  vs:3  (4 beasts = 4 metals)

b.  lion vs:4;   bear vs:5;  leopard vs:6;  and the 4th so terrible, so awesome not likened to anything we could identify with, vs:7.

 

c.  In vs:9-12   there follows the execution of judgment.

d.  In vs:13-14  establishment of another kingdom.

 

5.  In ch-2 we have seen the head of gold, the chest of silver, the belly of bronze, and the legs of iron; clearly in context depicting the succession of kingdoms.

 

6.  Some comparisons  of Daniel ch-2;  and   ch-7

a.  subject matter  =  the same  both dealing with succession of kingdoms.

b.  ch-2 = precious metals;    ch-7 = beasts

c.  ch-2 = metals are beautiful;       ch-7 = beasts are ugly, horrible

 

7.  Why the difference in the depiction of the kingdoms.

a. In ch-2 the kingdoms are pictured as man sees them, glorious and beautiful.

b. In ch-7 the kingdoms are pictured as God sees them, beastly and ugly.

 

 

 

8.  The Common ground between the 2 chapters is that.

#1  both give succession of kingdoms

#2  in both the 4th kingdom is terminated by Divine  intervention

#3  In both the final kingdom is God's.

 

 

 

9.  Lets look at Rev 13 and pick up the parallel there.  vs:1-2

           In Dan  7           In Rev 13

           Lion                   leopard

           bear                    bear

           leopard              lion

 

 

 

Ø      Some Concluding observations to Note related to these kingdoms.

1.  God is in control of history.  How can we say that??

 

2.  Part of God's plan is to allow sin to run its course;  to allow man to pursue the desires of his old nature and in effect to challenge God's will.

 

3. Having looked at Dan 2,  Dan 7 and then jumping over to Rev 13 and seeing the common thread we should conclude that the Bible is indeed a unified book.

 

4.  Daniel's predictions are validated by Jesus and John.

 

5.  God's program cannot be known without an investment of time and mind.

 

 

6.  The 5th Kingdom:  God's Kingdom  2:44-45

a.  What are the characteristics seen here of this kingdom?

       #1  It is an eternal Kingdom;  will be eternal.

 

       #2  It will never be succeeded.

       #3  It will be a conquering kingdom

 

b.  What is it, what event will trigger the establishment of this kingdom?
