Their final grade, the King's evaluation! 1:20

Historical note!  1:21

- This is a significant notation giving us insight into the length of Daniel's ministry in Babylon.

- The first year of Cyrus was 539 B.C.

- Thus Daniel saw his nation conquered, destroyed and was blessed by God to see the end of the captivity and the return of the remnant to the land.

**  Spiritual lessons from ch-1.

    1.  These young men demonstrated that the believer is to obey God, to be faithful to His word, no matter what the circumstances are and to leave the results in His hands.

    2.  Even in a time of national judgment for spiritual idolatry,  disobedience to God; God protects and sustains those who obey Him and trust him for their provision.

    3.  Daniel took great care not to sacrifice eternal values on the  altar of temporal gain.

   4.  God puts a premium on faithful service, no matter what your age.  Young or old, teen or senior citizen.

   5.  Daniel epitomized the man of faith, faith not in the sense of believing in spite of the evidence but in believing and obeying in spite of the consequences.
