Lesson #5 5/21/00
The Fall or Roles reversed Genesis 3
These first few verses (1-5)
I believe are a summary of many dialogues between the serpent and Eve, that is
Ishah.
Can we identify this serpent
as Satan legitimately?
Ø From this point on her viewpoint
changed 3 ways!
#1 She had a diminished vpt of God's
goodness/provision.
#2 She had an exaggerated [or expanded] view of God's
prohibition.
#3 She had a modified view of sin and its
consequences!
To see her change of viewpoint need to compare
some passages.
#1 For the diminished
vpt! 2:16 cf 3:2
#2 Exaggerated view
2:17a cf. 3:3a
#3 Modified view of the
consequences of sin! 2:17b cf. 3:3b
Do you see how her view is
changed?
What we see here is Satan
with all his craftiness and cunning going full tilt; (his usual pattern) and he
is softening her up for the big attack! [3:4-5]
